CRTC news about Message Relay Services (MRS) online Discussion by June 29th!

Good morning,

My name is Nanao Kachi, Director of Social and Consumer Policy at the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). The CRTC regulates and supervises broadcasting and telecommunications in Canada.

Today, the CRTC launched an online discussion to seek your opinion on using message relay services (MRS). This will help us determine whether our policies on the matter are still appropriate.

There are two types of MRS:
  • Teletypewriter (TTY) relay, and
  • Internet protocol (IP) relay.

If you have ever made or received a phone call using either TTY relay or IP relay, or both, we want to know about your experiences and your opinions on:
  • Promotion of these services,
  • Wait times and quality of operator service,
  • Services’ reliability, and
  • Technology used.

When it comes to shaping Canada’s communications system, we depend on you and your organisation to tell us what you want and need, including what is working well and what can be improved.

I encourage you to participate and share your opinion on MRS through the online discussion being heldfrom now until 29 June.

I also encourage you to foster participation from members of your organization and community by :
-        Sharing this email,
-        Sharing the message on Facebook,
-        Adding the promotion banner (attached) on your web site, and
-        Following the CRTC on Twitter at @CRTCeng.

In this regard, please find attached files containing the promotional web banners. These banners are provided in three different sizes, in both official languages. The following links can be used to access the discussion forum:
