Momondays March 9th Event

Hi there!

By way of introduction, my name is Stephanie Staples and I am the host/producer of momondays Winnipeg.

For the second time this uplifting and inspiring event on March 9th will be translated into ASL and if you could help me spread the word to your community it would go a long way to ensure we could continue to provide this service at our events.  We will have 5 speakers and some local musical talent joining us at the majestic Met Theatre. Local Manitoba Hero Ace  Burpee will be among the speakers as well as Joanna Hawkins - she will be speaking about her journey, not performing in the mime troupe as she did previously for us.

We are so excited to be able to offer this service and hope we can count on your support to share the information in as many ways as possible with your contacts who would benefit from the information.

Tickets are only $15 and tables of ten are reservable for an even cheaper price.  It would be helpful to know how many tables you would like to ensure  clear site lines to the interpreters.

For more information, please visit www.momondays.com/winnipeg or contact me directly.

Thanks so much and I hope to see you there!

Public Advisory- Taxation Scam 2015

Winnipeg Police Service

Public Advisory – Taxation Scam
Recently, the Winnipeg Police Service has seen an increase in the number of fraud related reports, specifically those which involve a phone call from an unknown individual indicating that taxes are owed.

The basic scam involves the suspect calling the victim and claiming to be an associate with Taxation Canada and that a large sum of money is owed in taxes. The victim is requested to make payment in the form of gift cards in order to clear up the fictitious outstanding amount.

Members of the public are encouraged not to engage these callers or send payment in this form.

The Commercial Crime Unit has been notified and encourages all members of the public to discuss this scam with their elderly family members or those individuals who they feel may be susceptible to this type of scam and/or pressure tactics.

For more information regarding fraud protection and reporting, please go to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at: http://www.phonebusters.com/english/recognizeit_emergency.html
